You will be working in the Design Space . In order to keep safe from hazards created by you or other workers using any of the tools in this room, the following precautions apply in addition to any other precautions: don't put food in the garbage bins, there are mice we don't want to feed Several machines use vinyl; be careful when handling the rolls because you can damage them and in turn damage the sensitive vinyl equipment This space is partially open to the public - do not leave sharp objects lying around. We have some communal sharp tools in a secret place; ask a nearby helpful person or post on Slack if you would like to know where they are.

When would you use which specialty cutter or printer?
The Fablab has several specialty cutters/printers; where the capabilities overlap also see the Consumables list for cost differences: Roland TrueVIS VG3-540 Printer can print and cut decals, heat transfers and posters at amazing colour fidelity Graphtec FC8000-130 Vinyl Cutter can cut decal and heat transfer vinyl can be used with fluorescent, sparkly, retroreflective and other materials available as Consumables list HP DesignJet 800ps Large Format Printer can print large format images on paper; Consumables list supplied and charged Epson ET-2720 Sublimation Printer prints on special sublimation paper that allows to sublimate the ink right into the substrate, but can only be applied to some materials

I seem to remember hearing Chris Brown talk about having successfully set up the Vinyl Cutter PC to print to this printer. Is that right? If so we might be able to retire the HP Plotter PC and clear up that workstation for other use. Ttenbergen (talk) 23:26, 2024 September 1 (CDT)

Use the HP Plotter PC to print to the HP DesignJet 800ps Large Format Printer. The printer is ancient and the driver doesn't work on newer PCs. Bring your file as a .pdf and open and print it from Adobe.
