Replacement window screen is available in one of the small drawers in the Tool Room.

for all	Chances are replacement screen is cheaper if we buy it by the roll. We can store it in the design space and cut of a piece when needed. Tina will look into.

Sandblasting at North Forge

The Fablab has several sandblasting tools:

Sandblasting Cabinet (small) and Sandblasting Cabinet (large)
- size is the only real distinction
Gravity fed sandblasting gun

for all	I am pretty sure we have one... but where is it, and how would we ever use it safely. maybe we shouldn't have it?

Replacing blasting media

The Sandblasting Cabinet (large) usually contains Garnet and should be left that way.

for all	How about the small one? Do we have a default material for that?

for all	What is our process or housekeping around replacing media?

for all	What are our rules about member supplied abrasive? What do we allow? Do special cleanup rules apply?

Abrasive media

The fablab has various kinds of abrasive media, primarily used in the Large Finishing Tumbler, Small Tumbler, Sandblasting Cabinet (large), Sandblasting Cabinet (small) and the Global Max 1508 Waterjet System.

We get this by the pallet and the bags are usually either stored on their pallet or on a shelf next to the sandblaster. The media can also be used in the Sandblasting Cabinet (large)/Sandblasting Cabinet (small). It's possible it could also be used in the tumblers.

We have some sandblasting media in red boxes in the shelf under the sandblasters:

crushed glass
wallnut shell

Baking soda is a milder alternative. We don't supply it.

Tumbler media

We have abrasive media and some polishing fluids for the tumblers. They are in buckets under the work table in the Metal Grinding Room. See Instructions:Large Finishing Tumbler#Tumbling Media for more info.
