* I just had a look at both the general concept of LOTO and our submission for it. I have misunderstood it a bit, I thought it was what workers need to do to flag broken and dangerouus equipment to stop others from using it. It now sounds like it is really only a maintenance related concept. We still need the member lockout process but we might need two different concepts and sets of instructions. Thoughts? We are required to store LOTO (Lock-out/Tag-out) information. This documents how the information is stored on the wiki. See Lock-out/Tag-out procedures for the actual information; the aggregate page is useful primarily for the North Forge:MadeSafe audit. No content will live there, it just queries the data in the tool template.

I plan to simply add a field in template:tool to contain this. There is a LOTO page in the safety manual or on the safety drive somewhere, I think. Some info can be taken from there.
Default values
Many tools don't have a LOTO procedure. I discussed with Emelia that we should have a default one to put tools on a loto shelf and, for now, post on broken. For larger tools that have an electric plug I would like to tie a lockout gadget to the cable permanently with a zip tie or velcro pre-installed to tie up the plug. Still honor system, but I think then it becomes a matter of training to tell how thou shall not mess with that. For hard-wired tools we will need something different. Possibly a cap over the switch. With that in place we could set the LOTO for each tool to default to the shelf and just make sure we update the big tools which should only be ~15-20.
