The Fablab has a Safety Committee in accordance with Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations and Section 40(1) - 41.3 . The Fablab treats members as workers in this context. It helps implement the right to participate.

  • Talking with members about safety and health concerns and helping to resolve them.

  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses. (see Safety Incident Review)
  • Promoting safety and health instruction.
  • conduct Safety Committee Meetings to discuss concerns and make recommendations for corrective actions. These discussions are documented in the Safety Committee Meeting Minutes so all workers are aware of the actions being taken to address the concern.
  • The committee’s role is to “advise” the employer (Marney) about workplace safety and health concerns and put forth recommendations.
  • The employer is not required to follow the recommendations of the committee if they believe alternative corrective measures will address the safety and health concerns.
