But we will need instructions for how to write them. Meta information. There is actually a different namespace for that sort of thing on mediawikis. Hazard Overview

This section contains information about hazards, what causes them, and how they are resolved. You can start pulling from the JHA for the equipment as a starting point, but those are not necessarily complete - feel free to add your own opinions (add a discuss tag if you're not sure of something). List these in order of severity.

Hazards are generally controlled via the Hierarchy of Controls; if you can think of a better way to control a particular hazard based on a more effective level of control, please add it!

Maybe we should find a way to flag hazards that affect other people in the room, specifically to draw users' attention to the fact that they're responsible for others' safety...

PPE Requirements

Start with PPE that is required at all times, then add PPE that is only used during certain operations (for example: "Splash goggles (when mixing resin)"). Also include clothing that is forbidden (mostly entanglement hazards, but the welders also prohibit synthetic clothing)

Emergency Procedures

This will contain any specific emergency procedures for the equipment: emergency shutdown, specific fire response, LOTO, first aid (for equipment or processes that involve hazardous materials)

The first aid for hazardous materials should be stored with the North Forge:SDS information. We might want to extend that concept where a material doesn't qualify for an SDS, but its hazardous material property requires SDS like info (molten metal, hydraulic fluid injection, etc). Prohibited Actions

Anything that you shouldn't do while using the equipment, ideally listed in order of severity.

Pre-Use Checks

Things you should check before using the equipment: will you break the ShopBot because your file is programmed wrong? Will you set off the SawStop because you forgot to check the material against the blade?

Safe Operating Procedure

This is an overview of the process with a focus on safety. Some steps might be generalized; for example, you might want to check your colour output settings on the Roland to make sure your greens don't look weird, but that has nothing to do with safety. That step would just be listed as "check file is set up correctly" with no details.

Shutdown and Housekeeping

Some equipment can be left in a dangerous state, including due to poor housekeeping. List what members need to do to shut down the equipment and clean up after themselves. Incl hazardous waste instructions.
