CNC Spoilboard Storage cart in CNC Woodworking Room

The CNC Spoilboard Storage is a rolling cart for member spoilboards for use with the ShopBot 3-Axis CNC Mill or the ShopBot 5-Axis CNC Mill. North Forge has some spoilboards for member use, see the tool instructions for information on those. The CNC Spoilboard Storage usually stored in the CNC Woodworking Room.

  • I think that longer-term storage in this cart is OK - some members have products that they sell regularly and would require a custom spoilboard/fixture. How should we handle this? Maybe ask that they "renew" by labelling freshly every 30 days, so old unused boards do not get forgotten
    • I have started to do that, but that means contacting people every 30 days only to have them choose the easy route of "yes still need it". The cart is full now, so we kind of need a different way. Ttenbergen (talk) 11:18, 2024 August 13 (CDT)

Temporary Storage Rules

edit this at Template:Temporary storage

Generally, members should obtain Rentable member storage to store their things at North Forge. However, members can store items temporarily in the Temporary Large Sheet Storage and the Temporary Long Lumber Storage.

Items can be stored here for 30 days. To store an item, label it with your full name and the date added (please no initials, as it can be difficult for other to identify). You can use one of the stickers on a roll next to the Tool Room door to label the item with your name and the current date.

It is acceptable to label sheets and boards on the side, so the label is easy to see without having to move heavy objects.

If your item is still there after 30 days ...

how should we deal with items that are there too long? This rule needs to be easy to enforce, if it is a hassle it won't get done. Can we just apply Storage#Consequences of inappropriate storage use?

Members should not use the temporary storage spots to store remnants from projects that they haven't disposed of yet, such as sheets that have had projects cut out of them. If we think you might be storing such items in temporary storage we will apply the Storage#Consequences of inappropriate storage use.
