The Member Council Safety Leads is a co-chair of the Fablab's Safety Committee and a member of Member Council. These Member Council Safety Leads are elected by members (Act 41(2)) and serve for a term of 2 years (Act 3.2(1)).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts the Safety Orientation for new members
  • Co-chairs the Safety Committee
  • attend Safety Committee Meetings, at least every 3 months but more often as required
  • attend pre-meeting Safety Inspection and Emergency Preparedness Drill and be prepared to discuss at meeting
  • work with the Member Council Security Lead and Member Council Training Lead to ensure the shop is safe for all members
  • continuously monitors all aspects of the Fablab Safety Program to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance
  • reviews the North Forge Fabrication Lab Safety Program to find opportunities for improvement
  • issues Safety messages on Slack to members, arranges any special Safety Committee meetings, and undertakes safety initiatives as required to support the safety program
  • assists in the planning and start-up of new projects with respect to potential safety issues
  • inspects all Fabrication Lab work areas monthly and initiate remedial action where required
  • monitors changes in safety regulations, review with the Director and disseminate appropriate information to all Fabrication Lab members;
  • has available at the Fabrication Lab the most current version of this Safety Manual
  • participates and leads the North Forge Fabrication Lab Safety Committee, sharing best practices and continuously improving the Safety Program
  • ensures the Safety Orientation and Safety Inspection and other pages in the Category:Safety are up to date
