** John and Tina should talk about discussions onthe wiki, there are several options.
** I meant this page almost as a general precautions page. The things you wrote are great and should be the instructions for the individual tools I think - for some I don't have pages yet. But my concern was more that we fuss to collect dust at the source but then make messes disposing of the dust. Are there best practices? For example, the bag in the wide belt sander extractor is so large to be just about unmanageable. And even for the others, beating out a vacuum filter on the inside of the garbage can releases a lot of dust. So, what is our deal? This might be related to the use of compressed air to clean things discussion.

DustFX Dust Collector

DustFX dust collectors must be emptied when the dust is halfway up the viewing window. This equals approximately one standard garbage bag worth of dust. Overfilling the dust collectors is inconsiderate towards other members and can cause a fire.

Please check the condition of the dust collector before and after use.

To empty the DustFX collector:

  1. Wear a dust mask or respirator
  2. Undo the holding strap
  3. Remove the canvas bag
  4. Empty the canvas bag into a standard garbage bag
  5. Replace the canvas bag
  6. Tighten the strap, ensuring that there are no gaps between the top of the collector and the bag
  7. Rotate the filter wiping handle (on the top/side) around the dust collector to clean the filter
  8. Place any full garbage bags in the garbage area by the paint booth

Cyclone Dust Collector

Under development.

Empty the cyclone dust collector after each use. If it is less than halfway full, empty it into a garbage bin. If it is more than halfway full, replace the bag.

Laser Room Blue Vacuum

Empty the bag into the garbage bin. The existing bag is reusable.

Shop Vacs

Empty into a garbage bin.
